On a summer night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the life of 40-year-old Burnell 'Dinky' Williams, an African American male, was tragically cut short. In the predawn hours of June 29, 2020, around 1:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the 10100 block of Avenue E following reports of a shooting. There, they discovered Williams and another man, 26-year-old Jeremy Sincere, inside a vehicle, both suffering from what would prove to be fatal gunshot wounds.
