On a late Sunday night in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 21-year-old Larry D. Watson, a Black male, was tragically cut short. The date was September 13, 2020, and Watson was driving in the Broadmoor neighborhood, specifically in the 200 block of East Dudley Street at Alexander Avenue. It was just before 10:30 p.m. when the sound of gunshots pierced the night.
Shreveport Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of the shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Watson inside his vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound to his face. Emergency services transported him to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, but his injury proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The investigation into his death uncovered that there were potentially two Black male suspects involved in the fatal shooting.
According to the ongoing investigation, one of the suspects was reportedly on foot, while the other was driving a blue Chrysler 300. After shots were fired at Watson, the suspect in the Chrysler fled the scene, heading westbound down East Dudley Street. The vehicle was later abandoned, and both suspects were believed to have escaped on foot. Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation units from the Shreveport Police Department processed the scene for evidence and canvassed the neighborhood for any potential witnesses or information. The suspect's vehicle was recovered and seized by the investigators as part of their inquiry. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Larry D. Watson, and the investigation remains active.
