In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, a dispute at a convenience store tragically escalated, claiming the life of Oquez Allen, a 31-year-old male. The incident unfolded just after 11:00 p.m. on November 4, 2020, at the Circle K located in the 9000 block of Youree Drive.
Allen was at the convenience store when he became engaged in a verbal altercation with another man.
The argument took a fatal turn when the other individual produced a firearm and shot Allen multiple times in the lower body. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and the Shreveport Fire Department transported Allen to Ochsner LSU Health with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his wounds.
Shreveport Police patrol officers who responded to the reports of the shooting were able to detain a suspect at the scene. The individual was identified as Devin Adams. Investigators from the Violent Crimes Bureau worked through the night, interviewing witnesses and reviewing video surveillance footage to piece together the events that led to the deadly encounter.
Following an interview with Adams, detectives gathered enough evidence to charge him in connection with the shooting. He was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder. Subsequently, Devin Adams was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
