In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 21, 2007, the life of a young African-American man, Samuel Docanto, was tragically cut short. At approximately 3:22 a.m., officers from the Roxbury district responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Woodledge Street in Dorchester. Upon their arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Samuel Docanto suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Docanto to Boston Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined that the manner of his death was a homicide. The Boston Police Department opened an active and ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
In the years following the incident, the case of Samuel Docanto's death remains unsolved. The Boston Police Department has continued to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case. Authorities have urged anyone with knowledge of the events that transpired on that summer night to contact the Homicide Unit directly or to provide information anonymously through the CrimeStoppers Tip Line. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder.
