Jermaine J. Daye, a 33-year-old male from Randolph, Massachusetts, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 4, 2022. The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. at a house party on Melbourne Street in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston.
During the gathering over Labor Day weekend, gunfire erupted, resulting in three individuals being shot. Daye was one of two victims who succumbed to their injuries.
The other deceased victim was identified as 32-year-old Tefan Ivy of Brockton. A third victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other passed away after being taken to a nearby hospital. Witnesses reported hearing a rapid succession of gunshots, with one neighbor telling reporters they heard nearly 20 shots fired. Another neighbor was reportedly grazed in the ankle by a stray bullet that penetrated their home.
In the wake of the shooting, tributes to both Jermaine Daye, who was also known by the name Sherlock Unruly, and Tefan Ivy appeared on social media. Daye was remembered as a father and a beloved fiancé. His obituary indicates he was the father of five children: Malachi, Legend Jermaine, Royal Jermaine, Jeffrey, and Jasmine Daye.
As of the most recent available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the double homicide. The Boston Police Department opened an investigation into the incident, which remains ongoing.
