In the early morning hours of a Sunday in Natchitoches, Louisiana, the life of Jerome Pier, a 38-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On April 11, 2021, at approximately 7:03 a.m., officers from the Natchitoches Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Rowena Street following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Pier suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner's Office. The incident was quickly classified as a homicide, prompting an intensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
In the days and weeks that followed, the Natchitoches Police Department appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Pier's death.
