In the warm evening hours of a late June weekend in Houma, Louisiana, a joyous gathering took a tragic turn, forever altering the lives of many. On Saturday, June 26, 2021, 19-year-old Emmitt Carr Jr. was attending a 'splash party' on Issac Street. As the event began to wind down and the crowd started to disperse, the festive atmosphere was shattered by the sound of gunfire.
In the ensuing chaos, it was discovered that Carr had been struck by multiple bullets.
Emergency paramedics arrived at the scene and quickly transported him to a local hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later moved to another facility outside of the area for more advanced medical care. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Emmitt Carr Jr. succumbed to his wounds and passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
The Houma Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. Their inquiries and appeals to the public for information began to shed light on the circumstances of the young man's death. The investigation led them to identify a suspect in the fatal shooting.
A few days later, on Thursday, July 1, 2021, a 20-year-old Houma area man named Terrion Robinson turned himself into the authorities. Following his surrender, Robinson was arrested and faced a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Emmitt Carr Jr. He was subsequently booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
