In the warm evening hours of a late June weekend in Houma, Louisiana, a joyous gathering took a tragic turn, forever altering the lives of many. On Saturday, June 26, 2021, 19-year-old Emmitt Carr Jr. was attending a 'splash party' on Issac Street. As the event began to wind down and the crowd started to disperse, the festive atmosphere was shattered by the sound of gunfire.
