In the early morning hours of October 17, 2021, a festive homecoming week at Grambling State University was shattered by gunfire, leaving one man dead and several others wounded. The deceased was identified as Marcus Snyder, a 28-year-old male who was not a student at the university. The shooting erupted around 1:15 a.m. in a crowded quad area on campus, a space where students and visitors had gathered.
