The young Black man was discovered just after 5 a.m. in the 6300 block of Florida Avenue, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. His death was later ruled a homicide, leaving a community and his loved ones searching for answers. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death remains ongoing.
Cody was a recent graduate of the New Orleans Alternative High School, having just received his diploma in 2021. He was employed by United Parcel Services and was an active member of the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Remembered by his family as a caring and loving individual, his untimely death sent shockwaves through his community. Friends and family have expressed their profound grief, recalling him as someone who always checked in on them and made sure they were well.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with Cody Lagarde's murder, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains an open and active investigation.
