In the early morning hours of December 29, 2021, a tragic incident unfolded inside a home on East Brookstown Drive in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, leading to the death of 42-year-old Muhammad Abdul Aziz. The man, a husband, father, and grandfather, was fatally shot in what authorities have described as an accidental shooting.
According to reports, Aziz's 17-year-old son heard a startlingly loud noise within the family's residence around 7:20 a.m.
Believing there was an intruder, the teenager discharged a firearm. Tragically, the shots struck his father. Family members found Muhammad Abdul Aziz deceased at the scene.
Baton Rouge Police detectives investigated the shooting and subsequently arrested the 17-year-old. The teenager was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of negligent homicide. Family members, reeling from the devastating loss, described Muhammad Abdul Aziz as a hardworking family man who was a wonderful husband, a great father to his children, and a doting grandfather.
