On a late Tuesday evening in Lutcher, Louisiana, the life of 43-year-old Matthew Richard Wiggins was tragically cut short. On March 8, 2022, at approximately 11:41 p.m., Wiggins, a male resident of Lionel Washington Street, answered a knock at his front door and was met with gunfire. Responding to a 911 call reporting the shooting, deputies from the St.
James Parish Sheriff's Office arrived to find Wiggins suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the homicide began to yield some initial leads. Within a couple of days, the sheriff's office announced that they had obtained images of a suspect, though the individual's identity was not yet known to the public.
