Hollis Carter, a 21-year-old male, was shot and killed in New Orleans, Louisiana, on the morning of March 23, 2022. He was in a vehicle with his mother, on his way to a court appearance, when another vehicle pulled alongside theirs on Chef Menteur Highway. An individual in the other vehicle opened fire, striking Carter in the head and critically wounding his mother. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene, while his mother was transported to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
