Keandre Williams, a 25-year-old Black man from Baker, Louisiana, was visiting a female acquaintance on the night of September 21, 2022. He was at her home in the Alight Baton Rouge Apartments on West McKinley Street in Baton Rouge and had been there for about thirty minutes when the evening turned tragic.
Around 11:30 p.m., the woman's ex-boyfriend, 21-year-old Alvin Allen III, arrived at the apartment complex.
According to police reports, Allen began beating on the front door, then kicked it open and forced his way inside the residence. He was armed with a rifle.
Once inside the apartment, Allen shot Keandre Williams multiple times. He then fled the scene. Williams died from his injuries inside the apartment.
Detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department investigated the deadly shooting and home invasion. They identified Allen as the suspect and arrested him the following day. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of first-degree murder, home invasion, and illegal use of a weapon.
The case concluded in October 2024, when Alvin Allen III was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Keandre Williams.
