Death by Force

Zavonta Washington, a 26-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on October 13, 2022, in Clayton, Louisiana. The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. on Margaret Circle. According to initial reports, Washington was attempting to break into a home through a window when he was shot by a 16-year-old resident of the house. The Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office initially deemed the shooting justified, as it appeared to be a response to a home invasion.
