James J. Dayley, a 27-year-old male, served as the Chief of Police in Spillertown, Illinois. On December 1, 1906, he tragically lost his life while responding to a disturbance call involving several intoxicated individuals. During the incident, one of the men shot Chief Dayley in the back, resulting in his immediate death.
