Troy Thompson, a 27-year-old African American male from Blue Island, Illinois, tragically lost his life on January 28, 2016, in Robbins, Illinois. The incident occurred during a tattoo party held at a residence on the 13500 block of South St. Louis Avenue. According to reports, the party's host, Shamar McGee, 36, asked two individuals to leave the event. As they were leaving, McGee went outside and fired multiple shots in their direction. One of the individuals, identified as 18-year-old Anthony Evans, returned fire. Unfortunately, Troy Thompson, who was a guest at the party, was caught in the crossfire and sustained a gunshot wound that passed through his right arm and torso. He was immediately transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of both Shamar McGee and Anthony Evans. McGee turned himself in on January 31, 2016, and was subsequently charged with first-degree murder. Evans, who turned himself in on January 30, 2016, faced charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Both individuals were scheduled to appear for bond hearings at the Markham Courthouse.
