Martarese Gentry, a 15-year-old African American boy, was fatally shot on June 16, 2015, in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood. The incident occurred while he was watching a fight between two girls. A man approached the scene and began shooting, hitting Martarese in the chest and stomach.
