Constable Herbert L. Kessinger, aged 26, was shot and killed on October 4, 1910, while attempting to serve a warrant at a residence in Grisham Township, Illinois. Kessinger, a male of Caucasian ethnicity, was a dedicated officer of the Grisham Township Constable's Office. The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, fired a shot through the front door when Kessinger knocked, resulting in his immediate death.
