Martin S. Murrin, a 32-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on September 12, 1984, in Joliet, Illinois. Martin, who served as a Master Patrolman with the Joliet Police Department, was attempting to arrest a known gang member with an active warrant for aggravated assault. During the arrest attempt, the suspect managed to overpower Martin and seize his service weapon. The suspect then shot Martin five times, resulting in his immediate death.
