Marilyn Bethell, a 47-year-old woman from Aurora, Illinois, was tragically murdered on October 31, 2005. Her decomposed body was discovered nearly two months later, on December 26, 2005, in a wooded area near a recreational trail in unincorporated Batavia Township. The Kane County coroner's office confirmed that she had been shot in the head, and her death was ruled a homicide.
