Devonshay Lofton, a 16-year-old African American boy, was tragically shot and killed on September 18, 2014, in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood. Lofton, who was a member of Secretary of State Jesse White's tumbling team, was walking near the 1300 block of North Cleveland Avenue when he was shot multiple times in the back around 9:30 p.m. The shooter, who was on a bicycle, fired several shots, striking Lofton.
