On November 9, 2015, at approximately 12:50 a.m., deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 100 block of Amelia Drive, located in an unincorporated area of Cahokia, Illinois. Upon arrival, they discovered 46-year-old Jermion Duran Conley, an African American male, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Mr. Conley was pronounced dead at the scene.
In response to the severity of the incident, the Major Case Squad of Greater St.
Louis was activated to assist in the investigation. Despite their efforts, details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain limited. Authorities have not publicly disclosed information regarding potential suspects or motives. As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with Mr. Conley's death.
Mr. Conley is survived by his daughter, Jermyrra Conley, and two grandsons, Justin Wiley Jr. and Robert McKenzie III, all residing in Granite City, Illinois. He also leaves behind his father, Richard Chamberlain of Belleville, Illinois; stepfather, Edward “Speedy” Powers of East St. Louis; one brother, Cortez Chamberlain of East St. Louis; and five sisters: Malikia, Lakeshea, and Schamikia Chamberlain of East St. Louis, Tiffiany Chamberlain of St. Louis, Missouri, and Ashanti Chamberlain of Virginia. Additionally, he is mourned by numerous uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
