Nicholas Hopkins, a 33-year-old white male, was an Illinois State Police trooper who tragically lost his life on August 23, 2019, in East St. Louis, Illinois. Hopkins, a dedicated member of the state police's SWAT unit, was serving a search warrant at a residence on North 42nd Street when he was shot. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 5:26 a.m., and Hopkins was pronounced dead at a local hospital later that evening.
