Michael Smith, a 33-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on January 27, 2016, in front of his home in Brookfield, Illinois. The incident occurred just hours after he had testified in a criminal case. Smith, who worked as a security guard, was sitting in his car around noon when another vehicle approached, and someone inside opened fire.
