Andre Booker III, a 19-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on May 31, 2017, in Springfield, Illinois. Andre was playing basketball at Comer Cox Park when he was fatally shot. The incident was a retaliatory act linked to the shooting of Sheena Malone the previous night. Malone, who was 23 weeks pregnant, survived the shooting, and her baby was delivered via emergency C-section.
