Carlos James Hemphill, a 33-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on February 20, 2016, in the West Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, IL. Hemphill was found with a gunshot wound to the pelvis in the 8100 block of South Stewart Avenue and was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn the following day. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed that Hemphill died from the gunshot wound.
