Demetrius Tolliver, a 23-year-old African American male from Chicago, Illinois, tragically lost his life on March 31, 2016. Known affectionately as "DJ," Tolliver was a former high school basketball star who played for Farragut High School and later at Highland Community College. On the fateful day, Tolliver was in the West Garfield Park neighborhood when he was shot in the chest. He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
