Leroy Tinka Short, a 19-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on April 2, 2016, in East St. Louis, Illinois. The incident occurred late at night when deputies responded to a call about a male who had been shot in the 100 block of Amelia Drive in unincorporated Cahokia. Upon arrival, they found Leroy Short suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite being transported to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
