On October 22, 2023, at approximately 3 a.m., 19-year-old Marshon Martin of East St. Louis, Illinois, was fatally shot in a vacant parking lot in the 500 block of Missouri Avenue. Responding officers from the East St. Louis Police Department pronounced Martin dead at the scene. Two other individuals sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
