Cornelius Eiland, a 25-year-old African American man from East St. Louis, Illinois, was tragically killed in a shooting on November 17, 2021. The incident occurred in the evening, and Eiland was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. The shooting also resulted in injuries to three other individuals, one of whom was airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries, while the other two were taken to local hospitals.
