Nelra Michelle Broomfield, a 40-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on June 26, 2016, in Springfield, Illinois. She was pronounced dead just before 6 a.m. at St. John's Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound while at a residence on East Clay Street. The Sangamon County Coroner's Office confirmed that her injury was consistent with a homicide.
