Miranda Goddard, a 24-year-old woman from Springfield, Illinois, was found dead on July 29, 2019. She had been shot in the head in the 2100 block of North Grand Avenue East. The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office quickly identified a suspect in her murder: Corey M. Cathey, a 39-year-old black man.
