Rekeea Jackson-Mason, 36, a woman from Chatham near Springfield, Illinois, who was Black/African American, was shot in the early morning hours of July 19, 2025, on the 1900 block of Holly Drive in Springfield. Officers arrived around 3:30 a.m. and found her wounded; she was transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:08 a.m. that morning.
