Sheena Malone, a 28-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on May 30, 2017, in Springfield, Illinois. Sheena was fatally shot in the 1900 block of South First Street in Springfield. The incident occurred while she was pregnant, and despite the emergency efforts of NICU doctors at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, her son Shemir survived an emergency C-section.
