On July 7, 2016, 27-year-old Brandon Smith was shot and killed in broad daylight on Hancock Street in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. The incident also left a woman wounded, as she was shot in the leg during the attack. The shooting occurred in a public area, causing concern and shock within the local community.
