Darrion Carrington, an 18-year-old Boston resident, was shot and killed on the night of January 7, 2008, in a tragic incident at the Canton House Chinese restaurant on Dorchester Avenue. He had stopped by to pick up a late-night food order when a gunman entered and shot him multiple times at close range with a. 45 caliber gun. Carrington was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center shortly after the attack.
Darrion had aspirations of playing basketball, despite facing personal challenges
such as an eye disease. He was a well-loved member of the community, regularly attending the Roxbury Boys and Girls Club and St. John's Missionary Baptist Church. His mother, Natasha Carrington, has remained dedicated to finding justice for her son, working with community organizations and never giving up hope despite the lack of arrests in the case. Boston police have investigated various angles but have not yet been able to resolve the case.
The violence surrounding his death did not end there. In a related incident, a man was killed, and two others were wounded in a shooting following Darrion's funeral, adding further pain and tension in the community.
