Tromaine Bell, a 42-year-old African American man, died on February 1, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois. His death was ruled a homicide, stemming from complications of a gunshot wound he sustained over 15 years earlier. On October 27, 2001, Bell was shot in the back while putting his children into his car after leaving a store in the 1100 block of West 51st Street.
