Jerry McCarter, a 41-year-old African American male from Bellwood, IL, was tragically killed on August 28, 2017. On that fateful evening, McCarter and another individual were sitting on their porch on the 400 block of 24th Avenue when a group of people approached them and began shooting. McCarter was struck in the torso and was subsequently taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 9:37 p.m.
