Jontae Hunt, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically shot on February 24, 2018, in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. near his home on the 8600 block of South Michigan Avenue. Hunt was struck in the hip by a bullet and initially, it was believed that he would survive the injury. However, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead at 9:32 p.m. that same evening.
