Melvin DeVost II, a 29-year-old African American man from North Chicago, IL, was tragically shot and killed on March 5, 2018. DeVost was the passenger in a car when he was struck by bullets fired by Andre Jones, 35, of Waukegan, IL, following an altercation at a bar on Green Bay Road. The driver of the car attempted to rush DeVost to a nearby hospital, but the car broke down en route, and DeVost later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
