James W. Garrett, an 18-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on October 6, 2018, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred during a memorial gathering on the Far South Side of Chicago. Garrett, along with a 48-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, was attending an outdoor event in the 13200 block of South Prairie Avenue when gunfire erupted.
