Summary based on 2 sources
On November 2, 2018, in Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood, a 30-year-old Middle Eastern/Arab female, Huda Al‑Jaburi, was killed during what police described as a domestic incident.
The shooting happened just after 1:10 p.m. on the 4700 block of North Linder Avenue, turning an ordinary Friday afternoon into a scene of flashing lights and cordoned sidewalks.

Authorities identified the gunman as 42‑year‑old Khalid Al‑Jaber, Huda Al-Jaburi's Ex-husband. He shot Huda Al‑Jaburi multiple times in the head and then shot himself; she was pronounced dead at the scene, while he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died.
Autopsy findings confirmed that Huda Al‑Jaburi died of multiple gunshot wounds and that Khalid Al‑Jaber died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators also noted that she lived on the block where the attack occurred, and that he resided in West Rogers Park.

Area North detectives treated the case as a murder‑suicide. With the perpetrator deceased, there were no arrests, and police indicated no search for additional suspects.
The facts settled into the record as quickly as the sirens faded, leaving behind the haunting brevity of a life cut short.

In the days that followed, the neighborhood tried to gather itself. A vigil was organized at Lawrence and Linder, a small attempt to knit the community together in the wake of the violence, and an online fundraiser emerged to help the children left behind and to remember the 30‑year‑old's name.
Even as the official case closed, these acts of remembrance kept Huda Al‑Jaburi present in the place where she last stood.
