Egerton Montgomery Dover II, a 20-year-old African American male from Bloomington, Illinois, tragically lost his life on December 5, 2018. On the night of December 4, 2018, Egerton was targeted after he declined to share marijuana with a group of individuals who had gathered at a nearby apartment. The group, which included Anthony Grampsas and Tyjuan Bruce, decided to rob Egerton of money and drugs. Grampsas drove Bruce and another accomplice, Curtis Hairston, to Egerton's apartment with the intent to steal. During the robbery, Egerton was shot in his bedroom, and his body was later found in the kitchen of his apartment.
Anthony Grampsas was convicted of murder and home invasion in connection with Egerton's death. He received a 45-year prison sentence for his role in the crime. Tyjuan Bruce, who was also involved in the robbery, was found guilty of murder and received a similar 45-year sentence. Curtis Hairston, the third accomplice, was killed in an unrelated shooting in January 2019.
