In the early hours of November 3, 2019, a 42-year-old African American male, Corey “Corkey/Cokey” Holmes, was found on the sidewalk in the 600 block of East 75th Street in Chicago's Park Manor neighborhood with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died several hours later.
