Tyrese Hearon, a 19-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on January 22, 2020, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, where Tyrese and two other individuals were involved in a narcotics-related robbery. The trio, traveling in a gray SUV, stopped at a corner in the 200 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue and had a verbal confrontation with someone. During this confrontation, a person on the corner pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Tyrese, who was driving the SUV, was hit multiple times. Despite his injuries, he attempted to drive away but crashed the vehicle. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

During the attempted robbery, a man stepped out of an alley and fired several shots at the teens. A gun was recovered near the vehicle, and the two teens who were shot, along with another person in the SUV, were taken into custody. However, no charges were filed against them at that time.
Further developments in the case led to the arrest of Semaj McMullen, 19, and Deandre Davis, 18, who were charged with armed robbery with a firearm. Both individuals were part of the group that attempted to rob someone before the shooting occurred. They were ordered held without bail and were due back in court.
