In the late summer of 2020, the life of 17-year-old Emonyá Moten was tragically cut short on a Thursday afternoon in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. On September 3rd, the teenager became a victim of gun violence, a sudden and brutal event that left his family and community reeling. At the time of his death, Emonyá was a junior at Pine Bluff High School, a young man with a future that was abruptly erased.
