Rafael Simmons, a 31-year-old African American man, was tragically shot and killed on May 29, 2020, in the LeClaire Courts neighborhood on the Southwest Side of Chicago. The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. in the 4500 block of South Lamon Avenue. Responding to reports of gunfire, police officers found Simmons unresponsive in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
