On April 28, 2017, 31-year-old Alfred Stovall was shot and killed in Chicago's Austin neighborhood. Stovall's murder was one of several violent incidents linked to gang activity in the area. The federal investigation revealed that Darius Murphy, a member of the Wicked Town faction of the Traveling Vice Lords, was responsible for Stovall's killing. Murphy allegedly believed that Stovall was affiliated with a rival gang, which led to the fatal shooting.
