Maurice Jelks, a 39-year-old African American man from Chicago, IL, was fatally shot on May 31, 2020, in the Calumet Heights neighborhood. Maurice was driving with his cousin, Darius Jelks, 31, when their vehicle was attacked by someone in a dark-colored SUV while they were waiting at a stoplight in the 1600 block of East 95th Street. Both men were shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. Their deaths were ruled homicides.
