Charles Riley, a 16-year-old African American male from Chicago, IL, tragically lost his life on June 20, 2020. The incident occurred in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, where Charles and his friend, Jasean Francis, 17, were shot and killed. The two teenagers were out buying candy when they encountered 19-year-old Laroy Battle inside a store. According to reports, the boys asked Battle how tall he was, a seemingly innocent question that led to a fatal confrontation.
